A Lamb was grazing with a flock of sheep one day. She soon found some sweet grass at the edge of the field. Farther and farther she went, away from the others.

Cierto día un Cordero se encontraba pastando con un rebaño de ovejas. Pronto encontró pasto tierno en un extremo del campo. Y de ese modo se fue apartando del resto.

She was enjoying herself so much that she did not notice a Wolf coming nearer to her. However, when it pounced on her, she was quick to start pleading, "Please, please don't eat me yet. My stomach is full of grass. If you wait a while, I will taste much better."

Estaba disfrutando tanto que no advirtió que un Lobo se le acercaba. Sin embargo cuando éste se le abalanzó fue rápida para suplicarle: "Por favor, no me comas aún. Mi estómago está repleto de pasto. Si aguardas un poco, tendré mucho mejor sabor".

The Wolf thought that was a good idea, so he sat down and waited. After a while, the Lamb said, "If you allow me to dance, the grass in my stomach will be digested faster." Again the Wolf agreed.

El Lobo pensó que era una buena idea de modo que se sentó a esperar. Al cabo de un rato el Cordero dijo, "Si me dejas bailar, podre digerir más rápido el pasto de mi estómago". Nuevamente el Lobo estuvo de acuerdo.

While the Lamb was dancing, she had a new idea. She said, "Please take the bell from around my neck. If you ring it as hard as you can, I will be able to dance even faster."

Mientras el Cordero bailaba tuvo otra brillante idea. Le dijo, "Por favor, toma la campana de mi cuello. Si la haces sonar con todas tus fuerzas podré bailar aún más rápido".

The Wolf took the bell and rang it as hard as he could. The shepherd heard the bell ringing and quickly sent his dogs to find the missing Lamb. The barking dogs frightened the Wolf away and saved the Lamb's life.

El Lobo tomó la campana y la hizo sonar con todas sus fuerzas. El pastor oyó el sonido y rápidamente envió a sus perros en busca del Cordero perdido. Los ladridos ahuyentaron al Lobo y le salvaron la vida al Cordero.
